Benzene is soluble in water and easily gels with alcohol, chloroform, carbons and ether solutions. There are several other organic solvents available for benzene. Benzene is often confused with another petrol chemical called benzyne. However, they both have different chemical properties.

Benzene is often derived as a byproduct from petroleum and gasoline and is stored accordingly.
